The Diaz Express (Pty) Ltd

During the period between school holidays we do three rail excursions per week to the ever-popular Transkaroo Restaurant at Great Brak station. We travel past Great Brak, through cuttings, a tunnel, precipitous drops and over the Maalgate bridge. There we stop for a while and just enjoy the splendour of the Maalgate river way down below. Then we move back to the Transkaroo where, in this grand old station building, passengers can enjoy something light such as tea/coffee with a scone, or a full lunch from the a la carte menu, or just pack their own picnic basket.

We can accommodate 34 passengers per trip and the cost for a return trip will be R 150.00 per person. Lunch, beverages and gratuities are for the passenger’s own cost.

Please phone for reservations. When there are 25 passengers it becomes economically viable and we can do the trip.

The Diaz Express will be departing 10:00 from Hartenbos station (or Mossel Bay by special arrangement), arrive at 12:30 at Great Brak, turn around at 14:30 to be back in Hartenbos/Mossel Bay between 15:30 en 16:00.

For an extra amount (Mossel Bay R 50 pp and George R 100.00 pp) guests can be collected from the guesthouse/hotel and transported to the Diaz Express departure point.
